Management Aptitude Test, commonly known as MAT exam is conducted by the All India Management Association. About MAT Exam
MAT exam full form is Management Aptitude Test. It is a standard aptitude test conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) for admissions into over 600 Business Schools in India. It has been conducted every year since 1988 and is one of the largest MBA entrance exams in India. It even has a higher acceptability rate than CAT. MAT is an aptitude test for management studies designed to evaluate an applicant's Quantitative, Verbal/ Reading, Data Interpretation and Analysis, and Critical Reasoning skills. Candidates need to register to create a User ID and Password before filling the MAT Application Form 2022. The application process will be considered complete after the scanned image of the photograph & signature are uploaded and online payment is successfully made. Candidates can choose to write the exam in both online and offline modes. An application fee of INR 1550 for one test (either PBT or CBT) or INR 2650 for both tests (PBT and CBT) must be paid.
MAT 2022 Exam Dates and Schedule for IBT Mode
Along with the PBT and CBT mode, AIMA officials have introduced a new mode of testing called the MAT IBT 2022 Exam. The MAT IBT 2022 is a remotely proctored test which means candidates can take the MAT exam for MBA 2022 from the safety of their homes. The MAT IBT will be conducted throughout the year, a number of times so candidates can book a slot that is most suitable for them. The important dates related to the same are discussed below.
MAT IBT 2022 February Schedule
The AIMA has released the MAT date 2022 along with the last date for registration for the February schedule. The MAT 2022 for this schedule will start on Feb 26, 2022, and the last date for MAT IBT will be on Mar 13, 2022. The duration of the MAT IBT 2022 is 2.5 hours and the exam will be conducted in the 2-time slots, which are 10 AM-12.30 AM, 4 PM-6.30 PM. MAT 2022 Registration
All the candidates who are eligible for the exams need to apply through the official site of AIMA. The MAT registration process is simple and is mandatory for every candidate to continue with the rest of the application procedure for MAT 2022. Along with CBT mode, the MAT 2022 is now conducted as a remotely proctored mode or IBT mode, the test is taken throughout the year multiple times. For each of the tests, the registration window and dates for other events vary. The process of registration remains the same. Before registering for the MAT 2022, candidates should check whether they meet the eligibility criteria.
How to Register for MAT?
The application form is available only in the online mode. Candidates who want to apply for the MAT entrance exam 2022 have to follow the process by registering themselves online. The candidate is required to follow the given procedure in a step-by-step process:
- Step 1: Registration: The candidates who are applying for the first time are required to enter their Name, Email ID, and Date of birth on the official website of AIMA to register themselves. Following this, the candidate will receive an acknowledgment of their registered Email ID.
- Step 2: Filling up the Application Form: Fill out all the application form details. The candidate should make sure that he/she selects the preferred choice for Test Taking Option, Test Center, Preferred Photo ID to be produced at the Test Centre & Choice of Management Institutes.
- Step 3: Upload Images: The candidate needs to upload the scanned images of their photograph and signature.
- Step 4: Make Payment: The candidates are required to pay the application fees in this last stage of Application Submission. The application fees can only be paid through online means i.e through Credit Card/Debit Card (ATM Card) or Net Banking.
MAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria
Before filling up the MAT Application Form, the candidate has to check the eligibility criteria laid out by the conducting authorities. MAT opens the gateway for candidates who wish to pursue PGDM courses related to MBA. Therefore, anyone applying for the exam must have completed a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized college, or a professional degree in India like CA, CS, ICWA, etc. Candidates who are in the final year currently, and will be graduating soon are also eligible to apply.
The framed guidelines for MAT eligibility criteria do not specify any age limit for the applicant. Work experience has points in the interview post the exam but is not one of the basic MAT eligibility criteria. Therefore, candidates having no work experience can also apply for MAT as it is not mandatory. Above all, another important criterion is that the candidate must be an Indian National to apply for the test. The candidate must have a valid unique email and phone number during the entire registration and application process as all the further communication will be done via the email address and phone number provided by the candidate.
Candidates should note that the MAT eligibility may differ from the college admission eligibility, so when applying for their respective college, the candidates should check the eligibility conditions of that particular college.
As the exam is for admission into the Post-Graduation course, the candidate must be a graduate or should be in the final year of graduation. MAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria is mentioned in the table below.

MAT 2022 Application Form Details
MAT 2022 Application Form is made available online. A candidate needs to apply through the official website of the AIMA. The MAT 2022 application form is divided into four parts.
While filling the MAT 2022 application form, the candidate should write their name as on the official document. There should not be any inconsistency. Once the candidates have paid the fees for the MAT 2022, they should check the status of the fee payment. The contact details provided in the online application form should be valid and authentic, as these details will be used to communicate with the candidate about the further events of the exam. No error should be made while filling the MAT 2022 application form. Candidates should check the MAT 2022 application form before submitting it.
The first part involves the filling of personal and academic details, the second part involves uploading of scanned images, the third part involves payment of fees, and finally printing the application comes under part four. MAT application fees that a candidate has to pay are as follows.

The applicants need rigorous preparation to crack MAT 2022, as the competition is tough. The major domains which will be tested in the examination are Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Language and Comprehension, Mathematical Aptitude, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, and the candidate's knowledge of the Indian and Global Environment.

All these sections together carry a total of 200 marks basically, sectional total marks of 40 per section. The difficulty level differs from section to section, from Language Comprehension being the easiest to Data Sufficiency and Intelligence and Critical Reasoning being the toughest sections encountered by the students in the paper. The newly launched MAT IBT Exam also has the same MAT 2022 Syllabus as that of the CBT and the PBT Exams.

MAT 2022 Exam Pattern
MAT can be given in CBT, IBT, and PBT modes. Candidates who are opting for both, have the advantage of selecting two more colleges for sending the scores in addition to the 5 colleges that are normally allowed.
The paper consists of four sections that are: Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills, Intelligence, and Critical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, Indian and Global Environment. The total number of questions is 200 and 150 minutes(Two and a half hours) are given to complete the exam. Each section has 40 questions.

MAT 2022 Admit Card
Candidates will be able to download their MAT 2022 exam Admit Card for both online and offline examinations from the AIMA's official website. Separate admit cards will be issued for online and offline exams. However, the admit card will only be available online and no hard copy will be sent by the authority through the post.
The MAT 2022 Admit Card should be carried to the exam venue. The admit card will have details of the candidate like his/her name, roll number, registration number, center code, reporting, and closing time along with a photograph and the signature of the candidate. After receiving the MAT 2022 admit card, students should verify all their details.
How to Download the MAT 2022 Admit Card?
The procedure to download the admit card for MAT 2022 is as follows:
- Step 1: The candidate must visit the official website of AIMA to download the hall ticket. Scroll to the admit card link.
- Step 2: Then the candidates should enter their Name, Registration Number & Date Of Birth.
- Step 3: Click on the Submit button.
- Step 4: Admit card will now be displayed on the screen.

MAT 2022 Exam Centres
Numerous MAT 2022 exam centres are available all across the country. There are different exam centres for Online and Offline tests. MAT will be held in 45 cities for PBT and 29 cities for CBT across the country.
Candidates must reach the MAT 2022 exam centres at least 30 minutes before the exam time. The gates of the exam centre will open one hour before the exam. Candidates can select 2 cities at maximum from the given cities as exam centre.

MAT Result 2022
Candidates can view their MAT results on the official site of AIMA. MAT September 2022 result has been declared on its official website for both the online and offline candidates. No scorecard will be sent to the candidates via post. Results can only be seen online. The results can also be viewed through SMS.
Scorecard will contain the following details:
- Candidate's marks and percentile in each subject.
- Candidate's total score and overall percentile.
This score will be valid for one year. After the MAT 2022 Result is declared, qualified candidates can apply to various colleges. If they seem eligible, they will be called for further rounds of selection which shall include GD and PI. Getting good enough marks on the test does not guarantee admission to the college they apply for. The selection of the candidate after the MAT 2022 will depend on factors like his/her MAT 2022 Result as well as his/her performance in the rounds conducted by the respective college and the overall profile of the candidate.
The result will be made available on the official website shortly after the exam has been carried out. It will be uploaded in the form of a scorecard which will contain details like the name of the candidate, date of birth, and roll number of the candidate, and it will have the MAT 2022's overall scores, sectional score, composite score along with the percentile obtained in the test. The procedure to check and download the scorecard for the MAT IBT exam is similar to that of the CBT and PBT exam.

The steps to view the MAT 2022 exam for MBA results are as follows:
- Step 1: Go to the official website of AIMA for MAT 2022 Result.
- Step 2: Bring the mouse pointer to the right-hand side of the page where the 'Download' tab is available.
- Step 3: Then click on the MAT Results option.
- Step 4: After that, you will be directed to a page where you have to enter your credentials such as Roll Number, Registration Number, and Month of the test to get the MAT 2022 Results. After entering all the credentials click on the Submit button.
- Step 5: Your result will be displayed on the screen and is available for download.
The steps to view the result through SMS are as follows.
- The candidates need to enter their Application Number and Date of birth after typing MATS (in caps) and send it to 54242.
- The candidates will be receiving SMS containing the result of the exam.
Forgot Your MAT Roll Number?
In case if you forget your MAT 2022 Roll Number, then you have to follow the given steps:
- Step 1: Go to the results page.
- Step 2: Find and click on the 'Forgot Roll Number' link given below the submit button.

MAT 2022 Preparation
People put in a lot of effort but still do not get the desired result. The solution lies in not preparing hard for the exam but preparing smartly for the exam. Candidates should have a clear idea of the syllabus and they should know which topic requires more attention and which topic can be given less preference. There is a total of 5 sections. MAT Selection Process
The selection process starts as soon as the candidate fills the application form. The candidate then gives the exam, and the result is declared. After this, each institute will decide its cutoff accordingly.
Based on the pre-decided cutoff, candidates above the cutoff will be called to the institutes for Group Discussion and Personal Interviews. After the discussion and interview are done, a merit list will be prepared based on which the candidates will be called for the Counselling Process.
Finally, the candidates will be required to verify their documents and pay the Admission Fee as decided by the institute.
MAT 2022 Counselling
There is no centralized MAT 2022 Counselling process for the MAT by AIMA. However, each participating institute conducts its counseling process. The schedule for counselling also varies with each participating institute.
Candidates are required to carry at least the MAT Scorecard, Photographs, Graduation Marksheets, and ID Proof to the desired institute for the counselling process. Some institutes require a Category certificate only if the candidate belongs to any category.

MAT 2022 Hall Ticket: The candidates must carry their admit cards to the exam centre. It contains important information such as the applicant's roll number, personal information, the allotted exam centre, etc.
Carrying Expensive accessories: The candidates must refrain from carrying calculators, docu pens, log tables, electronic or smartwatches, books, revision notes, or similar kinds of things, which may be used by the candidate to indulge in unfair means.
