Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) conducts the KCET annually. The Government of Karnataka established the Common Entrance Test Cell in the year 1994 to conduct the Entrance Test for Karnataka. candidates and the wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants for gaining admissions into professional courses.

KEA allocates seats based on the merit/ranking and category of the candidates appearing for the KCET 2022. KCET paves way for getting admission to nearly 220 leading government, private colleges and institutes across the State of Karnataka. More than a lakh of students appear for the KCET. KCET 2022 offers undergraduate courses such as B.E./B.Tech., Pharma. B., Pharma. D., Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Forest, Sericulture, Agriculture Biotech, Horticulture and Bachelor of Home Science and many more.

KCET 2022 examination will be held in the offline mode (Paper Based Test). The KCET 2022 will have four compulsory papers which are Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology. KEA conducts KCET on two different days with 2 sessions per day. Candidates who wish to get admission to do Medical/Dental courses (MBBS/BDS) or AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Homoeopathy) will have to write NEET 2022 conducted by NTA. If candidates are opting for Architecture engineering courses then they have to take up JEE Paper-II or NATA 2022 which is conducted by the Council of Architecture.

KCET 2022 Exam Date

The KCET 2022 application form is expected to be available on the official website of the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) soon. The last date to submit the application form will be notified soon. Once the candidates have submitted their KCET application form, they can download the KCET 2022 admit card from the KCET official website.

  • KCET 2022 form Corrections: The KEA allows candidates to make certain corrections to their KCET application form. 
  • KCET Exam 2022 Dates: The KEA will conduct the KCET 2022 which is a Paper-Based Test (PBT).

KCET 2022 Eligibility

The candidates should have passed the 2nd PUC/10+2 examination from a recognized Board of Education. Candidates should be at least 17 years old to appear for the KCET 2022.

Final Year: The candidates who are appearing for their final examination of the 2nd PUC/10+2 examination are also eligible to appear for KCET 2022, considering they have their results at the time of counselling.

KCET 2022 Syllabus

The syllabus for KCET 2022 is similar to the last year's KCET Syllabus, as released by the conducting authority i.e., Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) on their official website.

How to Apply for KCET?

Candidates can start filling the application on the official website. Steps to fill the application are given below:

  • Step 1: Visit the official and click on the CET 2022 link. Now you will be redirected to another page where you have to click the "CET 2022 UG Online Application" link. Now you will see a page containing Important notes and a calendar of events in the click "New User" section.
  • Step 2: Instruction and procedure for filling the application form will be displayed. Read it and click the "proceed to apply online" icon.
  • Step 3: Now registration page will appear, select yes if you appeared for Karnataka 2nd PUC 2022 examination. Then you have to enter your 13 digits "Student Number" and then click on submit icon.
  • Step 4: Now enter your details, contact information, and other details. Now create a user ID and password. Select a security question and answer it, enter your Adhaar number, security code and click on the "Submit" button.
  • Step 5: Now KCET Registration Process is completed and your application number will be sent to your registered phone number and email ID.
  • Step 6: Now you can log in using your user ID and password created during KCET Application Process.

Candidates should have the following documents and details ready when they are applying for KCET.

KCET 2022 Exam Pattern

The KCET 2022 Exam Pattern is very important for the candidates to have an idea about it. Knowing the exam pattern will help the candidates get an overview of the distribution of questions and their types being asked in the exam.

KEA will conduct KCET as an offline exam which is Pen & Paper-based Test (PBT) for all the aspirants. KCET 2022 will consist of 240 questions in total which comprise of the topics from Physics (60), Chemistry (60), Mathematics (60), and Biology (60).

The question paper will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) i.e., objective type. Question paper is available only in the English Language. One mark will be awarded for every correct answer and no marks will be deducted for incorrect answers. The time given to complete the examination will be 1 hour 20 minutes for each subject.

How to Download KCET 2022 Admit Card?

KCET 2022 Exam Centres

Candidates need to have certain techniques and strategies to prepare for the KCET 2022 Exam. Techniques and strategies help them to prepare well and accordingly help them to score high. Strategizing and planning accordingly will also help candidates while preparing for the KCET 2022 Exam, and ultimately help them to attain their cut off scores. Candidates are advised to plan and strategize very well before starting the preparation process for the KCET 2022 Exam. KCET 2020 Exam Analysis

The examination analysis is a concise description of the latest paper that was conducted in the KCET 2020 examination. This will give the candidates an idea about the difficulty level of the examination for this year and thus help with the last-minute preparations too. The exam analysis will also discuss the number of good attempts that the candidates had during that particular paper. KCET 2020 Biology Exam Analysis

The KCET 2020 Biology Paper was conducted on July 30, 2020, in the morning session. The examination was conducted in offline mode. Candidates who are mostly interested in pursuing Medical Courses had taken up this paper. The overall difficulty of the paper was said to be easy to moderate. Since this was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic situation, all the necessary precautions were taken by the examination centres.

Most of the questions were memory-based and could be answered easily. The social distancing protocol also served the purpose of ensuring that the candidates did not cheat during the examination.

  • The candidates are expecting an average score of 40 marks or more in the Biology KCET 2022 paper.
  • The questions were asked from all the topics under the syllabus and seemed to be easy to answer.
  • The number of questions that seemed to be difficult to answer was around 6 to 7.

KCET 2020 Mathematics Exam Analysis

The KCET 2020 Mathematics Paper was conducted on July 30, 2020, in the afternoon session. This exam was conducted in offline mode too. Candidates who are interested in taking up engineering for their bachelor's courses had taken up this paper. As usual, the candidates were allowed to retain a carbon copy of their OMR sheets so that they can crosscheck their answers with the answer key that will be released on the KCET website.

This year the paper consisted of a higher number of questions from the second PU syllabus than the first PU syllabus. An average number of students had reported that they would get a score close to or over 50 marks easily.

  • The difficulty of the paper was between moderate and easy.
  • More questions were asked from the second PU Syllabus.
  • The questions were of average difficulty and hence there weren't any specifically difficult questions to be answered.

KCET 2020 Physics Exam Analysis

The KCET 2020 Physics Paper was conducted on July 31, 2020, in the morning session. The number of students that appeared for this paper was over 1.8 lakhs. The examination was as usual held in the offline mode and the candidates had to follow the social norms that are currently being followed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

A large number of students reported that the KCET Physics 2020 paper was easy to solve. The majority of the questions asked were direct. Candidates have reported getting an average score of 50+ in this paper.

KCET 2020 Chemistry Exam Analysis

The KCET 2020 Chemistry Paper was conducted on July 31, 2020, in the afternoon session. All the candidates were required to attempt this paper to get a valid CET rank. This examination was conducted offline as usual and the was no negative marking introduced too. This is beneficial as candidates who are unsure of an answer can mark and random option and will have a 25% chance of getting it right.

The Chemistry paper was of a moderate level of difficulty. Again, the percentage of questions from the second PU syllabus was higher than the questions from the first PU syllabus. The students reported expecting an average score between 30 and 40 marks in the chemistry paper.

The students also reported that there were a few misprints in the options that were provided for a few of the questions.

KCET 2022 Answer Key

The KCET 2022 answer key was published on the official website of the Karnataka Examinations Authority for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology subjects on Sep 2, 2022.

Candidates can also submit objections to the KCET 2022 answer key through the Objections Portal link from the official website of the KEA from Sep 2 to Sep 4, 2022. Proper proofs and justification, along with the necessary details regarding the subjects have to be submitted by the candidates. The final answer key was released along with the results on Sep 20, 2022.

KCET 2022 Results

KEA has announced the KCET 2022 results which is a rank list online on the official website. Candidates can check their ranks on the official website after the announcement for the same is made. Candidates Rank in KCET 2022 will be based on the marks obtained in KCET 2022 and 2nd PUC/12th Boards. Candidates can apply for re-evaluation within three days of result announcement, beyond that no such requests will be entertained.

KEA will release a separate rank list for different courses offered through KCET. Engineering rank will be based on marks scored in subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in both CET and 2nd PUC. And for medical and other ranks Physics, Chemistry and Biology marks of CET will be considered.

KCET 2022 Cut off

KCET 2022 cut off was released by Constituent Colleges along with the KCET results. KCET 2022 Cut off was released online, on the official website. KCET Cut off is different for different institutes and is prepared separately for various categories. Candidates will get shortlisted for the admission process in various institutions based on their scores if their score is apparently meeting the desired cut-off score stated for their categories. It is required for the candidates to check the cut off scores for all the categories.

KCET 2022 Counselling

Candidates who have received the rank in KCET are eligible for KCET Counselling Process. The counselling will be done online through option entry. The option entry will be made open on dates yet to be announced. Candidates are required to know that the counselling process is entirely based on their performance and scores in the KCET 2022 Exam. Hence they need to prepare accordingly and score high in the exam.

Before counselling, Candidates will have to verify their documents. For this KEA will allocate centres across the state and candidates will have to be present in the centres on the specified date and time. Once documents are verified candidates can give option entry.

Candidates can select courses in colleges of their choice. There is no limit to the number of colleges they can select. Then KEA will allocate the candidate seat from colleges selected by the candidate and depending on candidates rank and category and seat availability in the college.

The candidates need to note that the KCET counselling process generally comprises three main sections or procedures. They are mentioned and explained below.

Document Upload

The first main procedure involved in the KCET 2022 counselling process is uploading the documents of candidates. The documents are uploaded based on the ranks that the candidates hold. Each range of ranks is allotted specific dates for uploading the documents and candidates must check which rank they fall under, and accordingly upload the necessary documents.


Post uploading the documents successfully, candidates undergo the procedure of registration. This process will be done by filling up the registration form with the necessary details and submitting the same for the counselling process.

Seat Allotment

The candidates are allotted seats and given choices of available institutions for them, based on their scores and cut off. They will be able to choose their institution according to their desire.

Are NRI students eligible to write KCET?

Yes. NRI students are eligible to write KCET.

How to get admission to the medical course?

In order to pursue a medical course, candidates should write NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). Admission for the medical course will be based on the score obtained in NEET.

Is there any reservation for Kannada medium students in KCET?

There is a reservation of 5% for Kannada medium students. Candidates from other states but studied in Kannada medium are also eligible. They must have studied class I to X in the Kannada medium.

Is the KCET application form different for different courses?

No. The KCET application form will be the same for all the courses except medical science and architecture. Candidates can avail the application form from the official website.

What is the eligibility of a student to appear in KCET?

A student must have cleared 10+2 with 50% aggregate in PCM/PCMB/PCMC. NRI students are also eligible if they have this score in 10+2 or equivalent.
