Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore was established in 1955. It became an independent unit in 1977. The college is recognized by the Medical Council of India. It is also recognized by the General Medical Council of Great Britain and the Malaysian Medical Council.

KMC has the highest number of ICMR STS awards in India. The Education Commission for Foreign Graduates has recognized MCA Mangalore as one among the top 20 International Medical Schools. Students from over 45 countries graduate from Kasturba Medical College.

The college provides a degree in Medicine. It has undergraduate, postgraduate, and a fellowship program. The KMC admission is based on the NEET score and the previous academic performance.

Kasturba Medical College Activities:

The college conducts various activities throughout the year. The literary club of the college organizes various activities like debates, quizzes, dumb charades, etc regularly. The college also organizes poetry writing, photography, and various other competitions.

The students are also encouraged to take part in intercollegiate fests like spandan, pegasus, pulse, adrenaline, etc conducted by other colleges. The students also actively take part in sports competitions. The annual inter-college cultural fest conducted by Manipal University is the much-awaited event.

Kasturba Medical College Scholarships:

The college provides financial support to meritorious students. The KMC scholarship includes freeships and concessions. The freeship is offered to MBBS students who secure ranks up to 2000 in NEET exams. For students securing ranks between 2001 to 5000, Merit-cum-Means scholarship is provided. It will be based on the income of the parents as mentioned below. The students who have studied at any of the AGE or Dr. TMA Pai Foundation Institutions who get admitted to the MBBS program based on the NEET score will also be provided scholarships based on the same criteria.

It also provides scholarships to students whose mother tongue is Konkani. The students submit the language proof certificate to avail of this.

The college has a library that is fully air-conditioned and has a seating capacity of 500. It has about 10,000 books in total. Annually, it subscribes more than 350 journals. The library also has internet facilities. The college has a teaching hospital attached to its campus which has a bed strength of 500.

The college also has 7 air-conditioned lecture halls with modern facilities. It also has 2 lecture halls with a capacity of 250. It has a medical education unit for conducting an orientation program for the interns and students. The college has 9 hostels of which 5 are girls hostel.

Kasturba Medical College Admissions:

The admission to Kasturba Medical College Manipal is through centralized common counseling which is conducted by DGHS. The candidates satisfying the eligibility criteria can apply online on the college website. The selection to MSc course will be based on the MET rank. The admission to all other courses will be based on the NEET rank.

Kasturba Medical College Hostel Details:

The college provides accommodation to the students. The KMC facilities include a separate hostel for boys and girls. There are 8 hostels on the campus. The students should compulsorily stay at the hostel in the first year. They will be accommodated in the Bejai Ladies and Boys hostel respectively. The hostels are equipped with a modern kitchen and the hostel mess serves hygienic and healthy food to its residents.
