The brainchild of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, a strong businessman, and humanitarian, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) was conceptualized in the late 1800s. To this end, Tata set up a provisional committee under the leadership of Burjorji Padshah, an educationist, to come up with an outline for the proposed university. NIRF ranked IIS No 1 among the top universities in India.
The Institute which started with just two departments – General and Applied Chemistry and Electrical Technology – today the college has over 40 departments expanded across six divisions: Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Electrical Sciences, Interdisciplinary Research, Mechanical Sciences, and Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
IISc Bangalore Admissions are based on the merit list of one of the national examinations for all the courses offered by the college. A few amenities located in different parts of the campus make day-to-day life smooth and comfortable. In fact, these facilities have made IISc a totally self–contained campus.

We get KVPY fellowship, which is ₹5000 per month for first 2 years, then ₹7000 for the next two along with a contingency grant of ₹20000 per year. Besides, we can go for other internships and summer projects. I have done a reading project in Differential Geometry. We have a placement cell which manages industrial placements as well as recruitments in Govt organisations like ISRO and DRDO. However, most of the people opt for PhD in foreign universities. Average package will be around 12-15 lakhs per annum, but as I said, a very small proportion of students go for it. Packages range from 10 lakhs to 25 lakhs per annum. Alumni plays a very crucial role in the life of the students. They are doing their PhDs in various locations around the globe and recommend good places for pursuing further education based upon their experience. The UG programme started in 2011, so it's a very small community, with an intake of nearly 120 students every year. But being the top-most ranked institute in the na

I have done two projects so far and both of them were in the campus itself. I worked with two professors respectively. Since I am an Inspire fellow, I get a scholarship of INR 5000 per month along with a contingency fund of INR 20000. The placement details are not very clear as almost 3/4 of the people prefer to do Ph.D. after bachelors.
Fees and ScholarshipThe course fee is INR 15000 every year. This is excluding the mess and hostel bill which will come close to INR 5000 every month( together). The scholarship available is institute, Inspire, and KVPY. Everybody will get one or the other.
